Banfield Pet Hospital Company Profile
We recently purchased a wellness plan for our two dogs. Both have received excellent well health care from our Banfield Pet Hospital in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Today, we had an emergency visit because one of our little dogs [Obi Wan Kanobe] was bitten by a large dog. The wound was very deep. I called Banfield and they told me to bring our pet in immediately. They took excellent care of Obi Wan Kanobe. Saw him immediately, addressed his wounds and stitched him up. The entire staff was wonderful. The staff jumped through hoops to rearrange other appointments and take care of our emergency. I'm very pleased with our decision to put our dogs on the Banfield wellness pet plans. Thank you for taking such good care of our fur babies.
Josh was our Jack Russell Terrier that we adopted from the shelter at about age 2. We signed him up with Banfield Pet Hospital in the Glendale and Surprise, Arizona areas. After a few years, he began to have different problems with his health and as time went by, he became more ill even though we had taken him in every six months for liver, blood, kidney and other tests that are part of the plan. As he slowly worsened, Banfield came up with more and more medical reasons for his problems with one medication and test after another.
I have been taking my dog to Banfield Pet Hospital for the last 11 years. I pay $37.00 per month for the wellness plan. Wednesday my dog went in for a wellness check with these concerns. She has not been eating well and has been losing weight. She also had an occasional cough. They did a blood test, gave her 3 different booster shots. They said that she had an enlarged heart and that was the cause of her problems. They offered more tests for around $400.00, which we declined after looking up enlarged heart on the internet. By Wednesday night she could not stand, walk, or barely respond. Breathing heavy and acting as though she was in pain. A call from Banfield on Thursday all this was conveyed to them. They said call if it does not get better. After administering to my now almost 16 week old 4 lb puppy, he started chasing his tail for literally 2 hours which had me panicked after reading warning in docs they gave me that said if animal starts "circling" to immediately bring him back to vet as this can be serious reaction to medication. So I rushed him back to Banfield Pet Hospital, explained issue and their first words were "This visit will cost another $60 for exam". I was shocked and disgusted and then found a reputable vet in my new hometown. Don't risk your pet's health or safety by going to these used car salesman like scam artists.Working at Banfield Pet Hospital is not just a job. To us, pets are a part of us. Banfield Pet Hospital careers range from a veterinarian, certified veterinary technicians, hospital associates, field leaders and central team support. My dog had been sick for a week and was not eating. I took her in for a check up Saturday morning and the hospital kept her all day. When I picked her up they asked me to follow up after a week and she would probably get better by then. Two days later she passed away. I'm so upset because I had my dog on the wellness plan for over two years and I assumed her health was good and if she had a problem, the hospital would take care of her. This happened at Banfield Pet Hospital Northridge. As I later tried to cancel my membership and go elsewhere, I was informed that even though I had maintained a membership for several years that I was still under contract and that we signed a yearly contract at the last appointment. My husband and I HAVE NEVER BEEN INFORMED WHEN WE BRING OUR PETS IN THAT WE ARE RENEWING OUR CONTRACT FOR A YEAR. Apparently, when you sign out your check out paperwork, they are throwing in renewal contracts WITHOUT ANY DISCLOSURE!!!! Beware. They are very shady and will nickel and dime you for everything. For instance, they will tell you that your pet needs diphenhydramine and you need to pay $20 for a pill (which is Benadryl that you can buy a bottle of 100 for 3.00 at a local pharmacy.) Just beware of the contract and the limited disclosure. This occurred at the Murrieta, CA Banfield pet hospital.I adopted a cat in July 2014. The care that she received at Banfield Pet Hospital was lousy and it angers me. I am so dissatisfied with the care that she received that I am leaving this review to help others avoid going to Banfield. You're far better off taking your pet to a local Vet that has more experience. I wish I had done this sooner. In Feb 2015 I did just that and my cat tested positive for round worm. For 7 months my cat had round worm because Banfield NEVER asked for a stool sample. As many times as I took her there which was a lot... they never asked for a stool sample to test. Seems like all they cared about was making money off me and my cat.
