The tuition assistance benefit is standard for all of the armed forces, including Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps. It has caps and restrictions, which are subject to modification. It is wise to consult your Education Service Specialist, visit an Education Center, or your service's web portal to see what the current policy entails.
In addition to the Armed Forces Tuition Assistance benefits, active-duty service members may also be eligible for the Tuition Top-Up Program, which allows those eligible for Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty (MGIB-AD) benefits to receive supplemental funding to pay for tuition and fees not covered by their respective TA program.
We have federal tuition assistance of up to with limits of $250 per semester hour, $167 per quarter hour, and $5.55 per clock hour up to $4,500 per year. Additionally, we have the West Virginia Educational Encouragement Program (WVEEP), which will cover up to 100% of the cost of tuition and fees for , up to $6,500 annually. GED classes are also available through the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development's Career Centers, and testing fees will be covered under the tuition assistance benefit.The Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Nursing Tuition Assistance benefit is based on the need to continuously attract and retain qualified Registered Nursing personnel and nursing faculty. The program is subject to change or discontinuation by VUMC in the event that the market no longer dictates the need or the Medical Center elects to eliminate the program.The Army recently updated their Tuition Assistance (TA) program with a focus on ensuring their Soldiers are more focused on military readiness and training as opposed to spending more time on college classes. Soldiers will still have the opportunity to use Tuition Assistance to achieve their educational goals, however, Soldiers must first meet more stringent criteria to be eligible to participate in the TA program.
